Welcome!

Welcome to the Laguna Blanca School (LBS) and our online view book, where you can explore many aspects of our school life and the wide-ranging opportunities we offer our students and families. Whether you are a current member of our community, a prospective applicant, or are just looking at our school out of interest, I hope you enjoy what you see as you navigate through our site. Honored to join LBS this year as Headmaster, I’d like to share some aspects of school life that have impressed me during my initial days on campus.
LBS is a remarkable community, offering an educational program that is serious about academics, but where opportunity exists for all students to follow individual passions, and participate in comprehensive arts and athletic offerings.
Faculty/student relationships at LBS can be truly transformational. There is a genuine interest and love shared between the students and their teachers, which permeates through the daily life of the school and is present in all that we do. These relationships support, guide, and motivate students to achieve their personal best, and provide a richly rewarding environment for our teachers to thrive as professionals.
While our ultimate goal is to prepare our students to enter and succeed at the finest colleges in the country, it is readily apparent that we accomplish so much more. The building of character, independence, leadership, global awareness and the importance of service can be felt and seen in our daily interactions.

From a vision created by Edward Selden Spaulding and land donated by Harold and Gertrude Chase over 75 years ago, LBS has grown to become one of California’s most prestigious K-12 day schools. Situated on two stunning sites, one in Montecito and one in Hope Ranch, with the beautiful Santa Ynez mountains in the background and a school commitment to a “green and sustainable” living-learning environment, it is difficult to imagine a better place for children to grow and develop.
At Laguna Blanca School, we are proud of the articulate, responsible, self-confident citizens our graduates become. On behalf of all at LBS, I extend a warm welcome, and invite you to arrange a visit to our campus to experience first hand the wonderful atmosphere and work of our community.
