     Facts at a Glance

  • Laguna Blanca School is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and Santa Barbara’s only independent K-12 college preparatory day school.

  • Enrollment: Laguna currently enrolls approximately 410 students in Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade.

  • Class size: We believe small class sizes are essential to quality education at any level. We strive for enrollments of 20 students per class in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade, with a teacher and instructional assistant in each classroom. The Seventh and Eighth grades have approximate enrollments of 45 students per grade, and the Ninth through Twelfth grades usually have over 50 students per grade. Grades Seven through Twelve are broken into instructional groups of about 13 students.

  • Faculty:  There are 54 faculty members, 69% of whom hold advanced degrees, including four Ph.D.s and one J.D.

  • College Placement: 100% of Laguna graduates attend college. Our students gain entrance into some of the nation’s most selective institutions. From 2005-2009, two or more graduates have enrolled at the following colleges and universities: Amherst, Babson, Boston, Boston U, Bowdoin, Brown, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Chapman, Claremont McKenna, Columbia, Gordon, Loyola Marymount, Miami U (Oxford), New York U, Northwestern U, Pepperdine U, Pitzer, Princeton, Saint Mary's CA, San Francisco State, Santa Barbara City College, Sarah Lawrence College, Scripps, Southern Methodist U, Stanford, Trinity (CT), Union, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, U Colorado (Boulder), U Denver, U Pennsylvania, U San Francisco, USC, Vassar, Washington U (St. Louis), Westmont, Wheaton (MA), Yale.

  • Advanced Placement & National Merit Awards: In May 2008, Laguna students received the following awards:

    National AP Scholar (3 students)

  • Calendar: The Lower, Middle, and Upper School all use a two-semester calendar. 

  • Campuses: The Lower School (K-4) is located on two charming acres in Montecito. The original 1933 campus in Hope Ranch houses the Middle (5-8) and Upper (9-12) Schools on 35 bucolic acres. Click here to take a virtual tour of the campuses.
